Our Program & Resources

The Grief and Bereavement program of Cypress Basin Hospice provides an environment of support with the goal of helping each individual accept the reality of their loss, experience the emotions related to the loss and begin the adjustment to a new environment without their loved one. The end result is a reinvestment of their emotional energy into life-affirming activity.

Grief is a normal process of reacting to significant changes in one's life. Bereavement is learning how to live with the change caused by the loss of a loved one. Bereavement takes time and support.

Cypress Basin Hospice helps people through bereavement by promoting positive ways for healing. Although each individual responds to loss in a unique way, people in grief often feel shock, denial, fear, anger, resentment, hostility, powerlessness and deep loneliness.

Cypress Basin Hospice families receive bereavement support for at least 13 months after the death of a loved one. In addition, Cypress Basin Hospice grief counseling, programs, and support groups are offered free, not only to our families, but for anyone in our service area who has experienced the loss a loved one due to death.

The Grief & Bereavement Resources of Cypress Basin Hospice include:

  • Informational Booklets and Pamphlets about grief and loss
  • Individual and/or family group consultation
  • Scheduled workshops held throughout the Service Area
  • Workshops by request as needed
  • Referral resources including web sites, agencies and private counselors
